The one thing about the 1980s that is common on almost everything? Plastic. Lots and lots of it.
This week I removed a bunch of plastic parts, including lots of trim. I removed the plastic “Plymouth Reliant K” badging, some chrome trim. I also de-stickered the rear windows and the removed the pinstripe decals.
The weird rubber chrome inserts that surround car in the bumper are just the worst. I’ve got to take each one out and scrape them down and clean them all up, then reinsert them. I think they will end up covered in vinyl so I’m just concerned with smoothing them out. They are held in with bendy metal clips and a bunch of double-sided adhesive tape. Not the best construction methods, but it sure was cost-effective!
